61 - Weapons Finished Good news guys, I finally finished all the work on weapon systems! Well at least for right now, plus I still need to tweak some numbers. Later on I'll add more weapons that do different things. Figure out how crew damage should be dealt with. But tomorrow I start working on AI, and once that is finished I just need to clean up anything else I need, and than the first public build will be out! So let's go over some of the things I did today. One thing I did was combine some methods from both the connector and segment class into a parent class. There was a lot of code copied between the two plus I needed that whole thing with holding onto a target type, this get's rid of all of those problems. . . . 1/30/2017 11:54:40 PM
60 - Plasma and Pathfinder Alright, going to go donate plasma today. It’s only a 45 minute walk away so that shouldn’t be too bad, but it is a little chilly out so that might suck. I know the first thing I’m going to buy is a little external battery for my cell phone. When I broke my foot then later when my computer died I sat on my phone pretty much all day with it plugged it and basically ruined the battery life. There might be a way to fix it, but whatever. I checked and batteries are only like 15-20 bucks. If you haven't donated plasma before I would recommend it. The first visit takes a while because they make you do a physical, but afterwards it’s only about an hour or two for 20-40 bucks depending on where you go. It’s kinda bullshit that companies that take blood don’t pay at all when they mostly just sell it to other companies. I guess if the blood place was making almost no profit on my blood I’d be more willing to do it. But I’m not going to give them it for free if they are just going to turn around at sell it. . . . 1/30/2017 12:46:53 PM
59 - Weapons almost done So I'm really close to getting weapons finished, finally! I think just one more day to get some more HP stuff working and clean up a few things, and boom done. Then I can start working on AI then I have my first build out. This one I'm going to make public to help get people interested. After this build though I'm only going to put out builds to people on my patreon so after this build comes out, go check it out if you want more. 58 - Game Night Alright, game night last night was pretty fun. Getting drunk with friends and playing silly games, kinda hard to not be fun. Some of the games we played: Villages, Bang! The Dice Game, and Joking Hazard. They are all pretty fun but I think I enjoyed Joking Hazard the most. It’s by the guys who did Cyanide and Happiness, and it plays a lot like Cards Against Humanity. But instead you are building three strip comics with cards. Maybe it’s because I’ve played a ton of Cards Against Humanity so it’s become dull, but Joking Hazard was way more fun. Also yesterday I was able to go to my wife’s house and pick up some stuff I needed, so Monday I can go donate plasma. It will be nice to have a little money for food and e-juice. Not going to be fun walking about an hour there and back, mainly heading back after donating. At least they give you some juice to drink to rehydrate you. They say you can earn about 260 a month, that seems a little high, but who knows, I could use like 60 bucks a week. I guess we will see next week! . . . 1/29/2017 2:26:48 PM
57 - Game night is on Alright game night is tonight! I’m excited about it. It’s going to be a busy day for me, but it should be fun. Basically a few people are coming over and we are just going to play various board/card games. Really I’m just looking forward to having some nice social interaction. I’ve been pretty lonely without my wife around. I talk with my roommates every day but it’s not the same thing, so maybe having a small nerd party will help out. Luckily my raid time on saturday got moved up, normally we do it later in the night, but it got changed so we finished at 6pm my time and the games don’t start till 8. So I need to go visit my wife so I can at least get a proof of address and my SS card so I can start donating plasma, and then clean up the house a bit. 56 - Weapon Damage So I goofed up, forgot to unmute my audio after the break. Good new is that it was only 20 minutes so oh well. I'll remember to check for next time. Anyways, for the most part we worked on lowering HP of segments and connectors when they were hit. Also some bug fixing and UI stuff. The reason why the stream was short compared to the last few days is next I need to work on animation. But I need to do some research on how that all works first. 55 - Juan Gabba Gabba Bobo Alright, I’ve been working on my game last few days and I’m feeling good. I’ve done 2-3 hours of work the last three days on it and I’m making decent steady progress. I just need to make sure I keep doing that. What really makes it feel nice is that I can see the progress. Yesterday when I built the weapon targeting I was able to have it work, and that’s great. Well enough about my game, that’s for the stream and the dev blog. So what’s the plan for today. Honestly not much, and not much happened yesterday. Although I will say, my roommate lent me money to get food, and that’s awesome. I ran out of food yesterday and he was willing to buy me some food. Since I’ve moved in I’ve been cooking a lot more sense it’s way cheaper to make things. I also cooked them some food last night, so now I just kinda do everything in the house, fair trade for free rent. . . . 1/27/2017 12:43:51 PM
54 - Weapon targeting finished So today I got targeting all working! The basic idea is that when a weapon is targeting something an image is put onto whatever it's targeting, each weapon that is targeting something will have it's own image, but it's fine because they will overlap and just numbers will show, and that's the important part. . . . 1/26/2017 10:23:27 PM
53 - Shouting into the internet So I’m feeling pretty good about my current schedule, just need to make sure I keep doing it almost every day. I guess things will change once I get a job but till then might as well try to get work on my game done. As you guys know, even if I get a job, I’m going to keep working on my game and my plan is to release it and peace out of america. I’ll admit I’m still bummed about not getting that job I’ve interviewed for. Also I’m not getting contacted by any jobs I’ve applied for and I haven't heard back from any recruiters I’ve talked too. Oh well, I just have to keep working on my game and apply to jobs. When I woke up today I thought it would be a good idea to call my wife, since she works swing shifts, I wanted to call her before she had work. It was nice to talk to her, I really miss her, that might be the hardest part about this whole thing. She pretty much has to always be working or watching our kid. There isn’t much I can do about it though besides keep trying to get a job so I can move us to a new apartment or something. While I don’t feel guilty about having fun with my roommates because I can’t do anything about what she is doing now, I wish she could be having fun too. . . . 1/26/2017 1:14:51 PM
52 - Weapon Targeting Alright, I tried to get some stuff with weapon systems going today, and I was partly successful. While I got to it after a while, if you watched the stream or saw the VODs I spent two hours doing other stuff. It needed to be done at some point, so why not now while I notice it.
